1336 W. Albion, Unit 1E

A house tour in East Rogers Park would not be complete without at least one apartment. After all, 80% of the housing stock in this area is rental. (Any multi-unit building is considered "rental" property.) The reason for this dates to the building boom of the late teens and early twenties, a time of unmatched expansion that saw large numbers of courtyard buildings, two- and three-flats, and multi-story apartment hotels being constructed. Because of this, population jumped from 6,800 residents in 1910 to over 57,000 in 1930.
