CMEG Professional Information and Networking Meetings
Meetings generally run from 5:30 or 6:00 until 8:30 or so. CMEG has no membership dues, but we ask for a donation at each meeting, mostly to help offset the cost of refreshments.
Programs are subject to change; as always, you should receive an announcement a couple of weeks before each event.
Spring 2008 Meeting, Chicago History Museum, Thursday, April 17
Multi-Lingual Communication in Today's Exhibits
Offering the museum experience in languages other than English
expresses culture, enhances communication, and welcomes
diverse visitors. The whys and hows of doing it are complex and
challenging. (How do you handle all that text, for instance, and whose
language do you choose in the first place?)
For our spring program, Chicago History Museum staff will share
their insights into the issues and the multi-faceted responses
they've developed in recent years. Plus a key researcher will
explore the emerging body of knowledge-what works and what's
still to be learned.
